Deadlines for Resolutions and Constitutional Amendments

CUPE Nova Scotia would like to remind Locals of the impending deadlines for submitting Resolutions and Constitutional Amendments for Convention 2025. As noted in the previously published Convention call here, we encourage as many Locals as possible to submit Resolutions and Constitutional Amendments. Resolutions are intended to give the Division Executive Board and its Committees direction in the next term, while Constitutional Amendments are designed to improve upon CUPE Nova Scotia’s Constitution. We promote a clear language format. *To be accepted, Resolutions and Constitutional Amendments shall conform to the Constitution of CUPE Nova Scotia, be submitted online via the Google Form and signed by two appropriate Officers of the affiliated Local, District Council, Sectoral Coordinating Committee or a Committee of CUPE Nova Scotia. * RESOLUTIONS: Resolutions shall be in the hands of the CUPE Nova Scotia Recording Secretary 20 days (May 5th, 2025) prior to the Convention start of May … Read more…

School support staff: We have a contract!

The votes have been counted, and we have all agreed to ratify Friends—we did it! The final votes have just been tallied up and school support staff across Nova Scotia have voted in favour of accepting the tentative agreement. We are proud of what we have achieved throughout this round of negotiations and honoured to have had the support of over 5,000 workers across Nova Scotia. This round of bargaining really showed us what we can do when we work together. Unity in the Council and solidarity across all eight locals is what got us this deal. We did this together. Together, we got a signed commitment from EECD Minister Brendan Maguire that school support staff will be part of discussions on safety in schools.
