We are so glad to share that we have reached a tentative agreement for CUPE school support staff across Nova Scotia! This is both at the common table and at all eight local tables! These have been some long days on what has already been a long road—for all of us. But we came motivated, and we came prepared to accomplish a good deal for all 5,000 of us. On Wednesday, all eight local presidents came together in Dartmouth for the second conciliation meeting for our common table negotiations. Nelson Scott, Chair of Council, along with our CUPE representatives, met with representatives of the EECD and our employers. Negotiations concluded around 2AM Thursday morning, continued throughout the day and again, went close to midnight, and then continued today. Save the dates! CUPE Nova Scotia’s 2025 Convention will be held from May 25th-28th at the Membertou Trade & Convention Centre in Membertou, Nova Scotia. Please see the attached Convention call below. As noted in the Convention call, there are blocks of rooms reserved at both the Hampton Hotel in Membertou, and the Holiday Inn on the Sydney Waterfront. Registration is online this year, and can be accessed here. Locals are also reminded that a Solidarity Convention Assistance Fund is available through CUPE Nova Scotia and is particularly geared to those Locals who, for various reasons, would not be able to have delegates participate due to financial restraints, etc. Applications can be found here.
