Our 61st annual convention kicked off this evening at the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre in Membertou, Cape Breton.
Following a welcome and song from David Meuse, Cultural Ambassador, delegates observed a moment of silence for fellow workers we have lost in the past year.
Delegates heard reports from executive members, including: Alan Linkletter, Vice President; Emily MacNeil, Recording Secretary; Nimrod Matthias, Diversity Vice President; Ty Loppie, Young Worker; Matt MacDonald, Communications Editor; Cheryl MacDonald, Cape Breton Area VP; Ralph Vickers, Northern Area VP; Ann Marie Danch, Central Area VP; and Christa Sweeney, Southern Area VP.
To close out the first evening of this year’s convention, delegates heard an address from Danny Cavanagh, President of the Nova Scotia Federation of Labour.
Thanks to all delegates for a wonderful first day of our annual convention!
