CUPE Nova Scotia solemnly observes September 30, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day. It is a time to reflect on the harmful legacy of Canada’s residential school system and the multigenerational effects that continue to be felt today.
We honour the survivors and remember the children who never returned home to their families and communities.
By acknowledging the harm caused by colonialism’s racist policies, we hold hope for tangible progress toward reconciliation.
