Joy Polley Pictou East Joy Polley is an engaged community advocate in Pictou County. CUPE is proud to support our member Joy Polley, running in the riding of Pictou East. Joy is a queer, non-binary white settler living in Mi’kma’ki in the community known as Fraser’s Mountain. As an active volunteer in many groups, particularly those concerned with public health and human rights and equity Joy was the recipient of the Lieutenant Governor’s Outstanding Volunteer Award as well as the Ed Bowden Wellness Award for the their work with the Pictou County Rainbow Community. Meet the Candidate: Jason Langille – Election 2021

Jason Langille Kings West Jason is a long-term care worker who’s fighting for something better. CUPE is proud to support our member Jason Langille, running in the riding of Kings West. Langille has worked in long-term care for 24 years and he is dedicated to making it better. He is the past president of CUPE Local 1472 and has held many positions in the trade union movement. He has sat on the Kings County Police Advisory Committee. Jason Langille is a vocal advocate for public day care, living wages, and dignity for seniors. As a front-line worker he understands the need for robust public services to keep people and communities healthy and thriving. Jason has lived in Kings County his entire life and has been married for 23 years. He and his wife Loretta have two adult children, Tyler and Crystal. Meet the Candidate: Cheryl Burbidge – Election 2021

Cheryl Burbidge Annapolis Cheryl Burbidge is a dedicated health care worker and advocate. CUPE is proud to support our member Cheryl Burbidge, running in the riding of Annapolis. Burbidge is a dedicated health care worker and advocate. She has worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 35 years. Currently works in the Emergency Department at Valley Regional Hospital. Active in her community, Burbidge has led 4-H groups for 15 years, and served as President of the Nova Scotia 4-H Leaders’ Council.  She also held a seat on the Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture. Cheryl is a Vice President for the Valley Region and sits on the CUPE National Global Justice Committee and the CUPE NS Global Justice Committee Cheryl is the proud mother of 3 and grandmother of 5.
