CUPE 4963 sign new contract: Notice regarding retropay

After almost two years of negotiations, workers at Queens Association for Supported Living in Milton, Nova Scotia have signed a new collective agreement. The tentative agreement was reached on November 8, 2024, and on November 12, Local 4963 voted to ratify. The Canadian Union of Public Employees represents 43 workers (including residential counsellors and program instructors) at Queens Association for Supported Living (QASL). Local 4963 were the last of 21 CUPE locals in the Department of Community Services sector to reach an agreement in this round of bargaining. Former members of CUPE 4963 that were employed from April 1st, 2023, to January 13th, 2024 are entitled to retroactive wage adjustments. Former employees have thirty days from January 13th to notify Queen’s Association for Supported Living of their desire to receive retroactive wages. Apply for the Labour College of Canada (LCC)!

The Labour College of Canada (LCC) Certificate Program is now accepting applications for Cohort 15, to begin in June 2025. Application deadline is: March 9th, 2025. The LCC Certificate Program is a university-level, labour studies and leadership program for labour leaders and active union members. The new flexible program combines online and in-person learning over 14 months, to accommodate busy and changing schedules. Participants come from a diversity of unions and regions in the country. Students learn together in large or small groups (or cohorts) throughout the program as they discuss, debate, and strategize on key issues facing workers inside and outside of unions.
