In sadness and solidarity

During a time of unprecedented challenges in our world, Nova Scotia is faced with unimaginable loss. The tragic murders in our community have broken the heart of our province.

CUPE NS is devastated by the loss of innocent victims, family, friends and law enforcement. To our union family, we share your pain and send our support as you grieve. Our hearts go out to all unions who have lost members and loved ones; your loss is our loss. We walk beside you in this tragedy, as we have walked beside you through our many shared challenges in the past.

Grieving at a distance will add to the struggle to process our pain; virtual grieving is not natural to Nova Scotians, but we are resilient, we can be the support that is needed to each other. Our community is kind at its core, we will get through this together.

Remember to be kind to yourself during this time. In particular our frontline, you are working in an environment never before seen in Nova Scotia and in fact our world. Remember self care as you reach out to support others in their loss.

On behalf of CUPE in Nova Scotia,

Nan McFadgen
CUPE NS President
