CUPE Nova Scotia is pleased to confirm that the bargaining committee for the Nova Scotia School Board Council of Unions (NSSBCU) reached a tentative agreement with government late last night and are recommending members vote to accept it. Pending ratification, this agreement will avert job action and deliver on the priorities that school support staff empowered their bargaining committee to fight for.
We applaud the bargaining committee and express our heartfelt gratitude for their months of incredibly hard work and dedication. Congratulations are also extended to all affected members, whose courage and strength throughout this process were inspiring.
Many thanks are due to our wonderful staff for their tireless efforts and professionalism. We are also especially grateful for the support of CUPE members from other sectors/locals and the broader labour movement in Nova Scotia. Last night’s result clearly demonstrates what the power of solidarity can achieve!
