Bill 148 is Illegal!

Today, Nova Scotia’s Supreme Court handed a decisive victory to workers by ruling that the government broke the law when they enacted Bill 148, deeming it unconstitutional. Stephen McNeil’s Liberals introduced it in 2015, and current Progressive Conservative Premier Tim Houston campaigned against it in 2021. He repeatedly told voters that he’d repeal it, then went back on his word and chose instead to defend it in court on the taxpayers’ dime. That defence failed today.
